What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas time is here, and whether or not you think it's the most wonderful time of the year, it's hard not to notice. To me, Christmas is a time of spreading happiness and love, and a reminder of giving to those that have less, and to those in your life that you want to show extra appreciation. Coming from a country far up in the North, it has also always been a time of LIGHT in an otherwise very dark period of the year, which makes it extra special and joyous to me. ✨?

What does Christmas mean to you? Do you do anything special during this time, whether it's family time, volunteering, charity work, or just baking cookies? ?

My 59th birthday is on the Solstice, December 21st. So this time of year has always been very special for me. I am not a Christian, but the holidays are a special time for love & family. I do a lot of extra baking & good cooking this time of year. We are having 2 turkey dinners next week!  ? One if in my building, I live in a 55+ seniors low-cost housing, we always have an amazing dinner every year & a friend is organizing something at a nearby church, as well.

We have our Christmas lights up already, I have no room for a tree here. And we had our picture taken with Santa, it's become something of a tradition since I moved here.

For me, Christmas is really about the chance to be with my small family and spend some quality time together, as we don't see each other all together that much. We give gifts, but mainly silly or small things; nothing fancy. I always love that weird time between Christmas and New Year: a chance to reflect and think of the future ahead.

I met my love the first time in person on Xmas day. He was taken from me before we had another Xmas. It’s a day I Believe in love.

I'm not a Christmas fan anymore haha I live REALLY far away from my family, so my last 7 Christmases were spent with my partner's family.

We never really placed a lot of importance on Christmas because we were always a close-knit family anyway. But one thing I miss so much is waking up to the smell of my mum's Christmas lunch, my parents arguing over which music to play. My dad being sick of the Boney M and Celine Dion Christmas albums on repeat and dying to play some reggae, and my mom hiding the remote control so he can't change the music ?And then Boxing Day spent at the beach, packed to the brim with people from all over Cape Town, chilling in the hot African sun and enjoying our Christmas leftovers. How I miss those halcyon days...

Yes, @Candy for me too, christmas isn't complete without the annual music "quarrels". ?

Besides that, it's a time where everyone comes together. We make an effort to see everyone as often as possible throughout the year anyway, but for christmas as many people as possible come together, and I love how busy the house is.
Another thing I enjoy is that while people have less time during that season as everyone is preparing, baking, cooking or on the way to visit someone we suddenly have the time to smile at each other, to stop for a small chat, for good wishes.

This is so true! For some reason, it seems like we get more communicative during this time of the year. Giving little Christmas greetings, smiles, or a quick chat with someone. Almost like we let our guard down and seek to connect a little bit more than usual. Maybe it's the Christmas spirit! ????

Even it is after Christmas now, i take the time to answer the question

To me personally I have no relation to Christmas except for the childhood memory when my mother and father did celebrate it for us kids. But after i grew up and both my parents passed away, i chose not to celebrate the Christmas since my belief is not of Christian faith. 

Now the last 4 years i have again had the chance to celebrate Christmas because of my New Family, My fiance and her Family have Christmas as a huge part of their tradition. So I felt i should take part and be there for them in Christmas time.

But Christmas to me personally is still only a time of being With Family and enjoy happiness together.

According to me Cristmas is the festival for sharing haapiness . even though we have to try to Happy everyday but every festival is the reason for bring happiness on everyone's face.

I see Christmas as a time to reflect on our lives , the changes ,challenges, loss and gains. it is a time to adjust and reflect.

Christmas can be spent with loved ones, family members.One can as well celebrate Christmas giving back to the community either as an individual or as a group by taking part in charity and cooperate social responsibility.One can also spend Christmas by doing what they enjoy doing most and what gives them satisfaction.

Christmas used to be a really stressful time as there are luckily many relatives to be visited. In the last two years we quite enjoyed a quieter christmas at home. We did the travelling and visting throughout the year when it was safe to do so. With some planning ahead there was also time build up the excitement to the small gatherings which happend in other months than december.

I also quite enjoy writing letters and creating packages to send to our loved ones ahead of time.

For me it means a period of reflection and meditation on the purpose of God send Christ Jesus to die for every man kind and also it is a period of receiving and given out of gifts cause Jesus Himself was a gift to all mankind
