Generally speaking, I think friendship and love are just labels you can use to decribe a relation between people. So love doesn't equal love and friendship doesn't equal friendship. They are all different.

To me, a friendship means helping each other without expecting something in return and having regular contact. 

Love is like the best friendship plus feeling physically attracted.
