I think, that's true. If greed means, getting stuff you don't use - just for your image, it's probably because you are insecure about your image.

 

Getting stuff, you actually use though, is being good to yourself.

There is a difference between insecurity and modesty and there is a difference between being too self-confident and showing off.

 

I've been insecure for a long time and I don't see the advantage of it. It stops you from taking opportunities.

 

If you are too self-confident, it will adjust by itself, because you will try something you are not capable to do and then you know better. But this way, you learn your limits and it is good to know your limits.

 

But if you are talking about modesty, I totally aggree with you. Nobody likes a show-off.
